GLAMNORTHWEST: Northwest Folklife Festival

GLAMNORTHWEST: Northwest Folklife Festival

NOTHING IN THIS POST WAS CREATED BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Traditionally, every Memorial Day Weekend, the Seattle Center hosts the Northwest Folklife Festival. All around the Space Needle, Fountain, Climate Pledge, etc that makes up the Seattle Center, vendors showcase all sorts of amazing art, skincare, clothing, food-you name it. Stages are also set up around the vendor shops and over 4,000 performers play throughout the 4 day festival.

The word Folklife is defined by Oxford as “the way of life of a rural or traditional community”. Webster defines it a bit more: “the traditions, activities, skills, and products (such as handicrafts) of a particular people or group.

The theme this year is Ikigai which means “A Life Worth Living”. It is taken from two Japanese words; Iki meaning “life” and Gai meaning “worth living”.

The vendor booths were filled with all sorts of creations from hoodies to tiny wooden birds. Art was prevalent all around; it was similar to the Pike Place Market but on a much grander scale.

Rather than describe it, check out the photos below and head to Seattle Center during Memorial Day Weekend!

The food had everything you could imagine plus the Armory and Chihuly’s new bar are near. Bring your patience cause crowds are crowdy, especially by the food. Here is a link to their official website: Northwest Folklife Festival

As much as I know the Seattle folks would hate on me for this, Amazon is still shopping local and buying through the link below helps support a local artist and business, GLAMNORTHWEST (me).
